Top 5 Fall Makeup Trends To Try Right Now
This year’s fall makeup trends are brimming with glitter, dark eye shadow, and slicked back hairstyles. Often, we see what designers show on the runway and think those looks are too fantastic and impractical for everyday wear. But you can replicate them in a manageable, wearable, and affordable way. All you need is the right products and a little know how.
So, let’s get started! Here are simple ways you can incorporate my top 5 fall makeup trends into your everyday life!
Metallic Eye Shadow
Electric, glittery eye shadow graced the runways in many different variations, and can be a fun, playful way to modernize your makeup kit.
My personal favorite is the Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow Palette with eight beautiful shades. These vibrant, sparkly colors have interesting out of this world names like Galaxy, Magnetic, and Granite, and can be worn at any age.
That being said, it’s best to use these high glamour shadows with some delicacy. I recommend plopping a smudge right in the center of your eyelid as an accent rather than taking them all over your eye area, which can be too dramatic for most of us.
If lots of eye-popping glitter isn’t your forte, then try one of my favorite fall makeup looks – rich dark lipsticks paired with soft eye makeup.
L’Oréal Paris & Balmain Paris have joined forces to develop a wonderful line of matte lipsticks with rich, deep shades. Pick from colors like Rebellion and Freedom.
To make the most of these shades, tone down the rest of your makeup. Use soft browns and neutral tones so that you don’t look overly garish.
Worn correctly, these lipsticks are a stunning update for fall beauty and can add zest to a dark outfit.
Thick, up-combed eyebrows are still the rage, but without the heavily chiseled shaping or color density.
For example, if your brows need filling in, use a brow colored pencil. Or, my favorite, a matching eye shadow and lightly add color to them.
After filling them in, comb your browns upward with Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Eyebrow Gel for maximum effect. The gel holds them in place and wakes up the eye area.
Stronger eyebrows balance out dark lipstick, so you can wear darker lip shades with greater panache using this technique to even out your look.
Dark Nail Polish
Along with dark lips comes dark nail polish this season!
Chanel Le Vernis is my absolute favorite nail polish. It may cost more, $28 at Nordstrom, but it lasts over 7 days without chipping and holds its magnificent color even with the punishment I dish out to my hands.
Try Emblematique #572 for a luscious burgundy flair, or even Celebrity #580 for a black glossy nail color.
Slicked Back Hair
You can still get away with big, blown out curls, but the slicked back look with pieced out wavy ends is the newest hair trend.
In order to accomplish this style, you’ll need a serum, hairspray or gel, depending on what your hair works best with. Serum is usually the most effective for naturally frizzy hair. For thick hair, try a bit of gel. And for thin hair, simple hairspray will do the trick.
My favorite product that also hydrates the hair is Moroccan Oil. This is especially great for frizzy or dry hair, and can also be used on your skin to combat dehydration.
