Every day, our culture tells women that we are not enough: not pretty enough, thin enough, or smart enough. We open a magazine or turn on the television and see women who fit the supposed ideal for feminine beauty, and measure ourselves against them and come up wanting. Having been an international model for Elite Modeling Agency, I know all too well what it’s like to feel the not-enoughness of the beauty industry. For me, this battle took the form of an eating disoder, low self-esteem, and people pleasing so that I might be approved of. If you have gone down the road of trying to measure up by meeting these unmeetable standards, or using fashion, beauty, intelligence or whatever makes you feel acceptable as a battle uniform to not feel rejection, then this video is for you.
How do you feel beautiful?
How do you feel beautiful when the world tells you that you need to change something? How do you return to the sensitve, inquisitive, vulnerable, and curious child that lives within? This question fascinates me. In the past, I shut off so much goodness in my life because I shut out the so called bad. You cannot have it both ways; if you shut off the darkness you also shut off the light, and it is imperative to love and accept every part of your being in order to be free. Imagine your child having a temper tantrum, and then a few minutes later laughing and being joyful. Would you judge or condemn that child? You would love them without hesitation, yet we often are harsh and hyper-critical of our so called failings.
A powerful meditation to connect to your own beauty
In this video, I offer a meditation that I practice to connect with the source of love and goodness on the planet. It’s a powerful way to ground yourself and to allow your inner child to experience play and joy, when the rest of your day will probably be filled with committment and obligation. It is a solid touchstone in a fluxuating world that has strengthened and helped me to stay centered and in touch with not only my own beauty, but the amazing beauty of the people around me.
