Awakening Coach and Life Designer Tiffany Josephs sat down with me this week on The Beauty Shaman to talk about all things JOY! If you are anything like me, life’s intrepid inertia drags me into what I should do rather than what brings me joy. Sometimes those two things are in the same category, but not often. Tiffany has made a career out of guiding women into finding magic in the mundane, being liberated on the inside, and enjoying the ride rather than constantly asking the familiar question, Are we there yet?
Get Out of the War Room
Before Tiffany began her enchanted business, Magic Carpet Life, she worked as a government consultant in Washington, D.C. The room where many meetings were held was called, The War Room, clarifying the hard driving, masculine and confrontational nature of the company. For a while, this worked for her, until one day she began to question why meetings needed to be war? As Tiffany became more and more in touch with her femininity, she began to pull away from corporate America, and into a space of merging her feminine nature with her logical mind for business.
What Brings You Joy?
Her transformation was driven by some simple questions like; What brings me joy? What do I need? How do I feel? How can I get off the hamster wheel and find joy in everyday living? Much of what she discovered caused her to integrate practical strategies into her everyday life, without throwing out the baby with the bath water. If you are like her, you may have wanted to walk away from a job or career that does not satisfy you, but are unable to due to life responsibilities like owning a home, children, and the mundane things of life. Tiffany believes, as do I, that happiness isn’t arrived at, but it is cultivated. How can we bring joy to our everyday lives?
How Can You Make This Moment Delicious?
Come home to yourself, advises Tiffany. My question to her was, what does this look like? Always the pragmatist, I want do-able applications for my life! Take off your shoes between phone calls, and walk in the grass barefoot, she says. Engage your family in playful and heart-centered conversations, and ask yourself, How can I make this moment delicious? Whether you are cooking dinner, driving kids to soccer practice, or having an evening with your SO, (significant other), choosing to create joy in the so-called small moments is where it starts. How can you bring more joy to your life? What is one thing you can change today to light up your soul-glow? For me, it’s allowing myself to slow down, breath the air, and really listen both to myself, and those around me. What brings you joy?
